COVER
Decorate your cover- Use as much creativity as possible. Glue, glitter, cut, paste, draw; We want to see it all. Have a theme and a scripture. These should point to your desire for this season. Basically, make it your own. You don’t have to do the generic scrap-book look, just enjoy making it unique.
Purpose: We want you to explore new ways of expressing yourself, especially during the DTS. You will be learning a lot about yourself in the coming months, and really exploring this will be a benefit to you.
LETTER TO GOD
What does it look like?
It could elaborate on the theme verse and scripture that you have picked out for yourself. It does not have to do with the word ‘Awaken’, but it should be related to what you are going through in this season.
What to write:
Be open: God already knows what you struggle with, so tell Him what is hard for you. Begin by expressing your concerns and fears. Be real with God.
Praise: Tell God who He is in your life. Tell him about His character and who YOU think He is.
Goals: Tell Him your expectations and goals. What do you want to see God doing in your life in the coming months?
Purpose:
- To mark growth
- To be honest with God
- To make your expectations known.
- To remind yourself of your goals.
Journal Format
Title: Name of the Lecture and Speaker at top of page, with the week’s date. For every prompt or question, write it out then answer the question. Try to make it as neat as possible.
Summary: Briefly summarize the lecture for that week.
Questions
After the summary, answer the following questions
- What are some of the points that you heard through the lecture that challenged your belief system, your mindset, and how you perceive God? Why? (I know this is a loaded question, but it will help in processing what you are taking in.)
- How are you planning to practically walk out what you’ve learned in this week’s lecture?
Choose between the following (you can choose a different question each week):
- What did you like about this week’s speaker?
- What verses or topics did you discuss the most outside of the classroom?
- Write your thoughts on why other believers need to learn the principles taught this week.
Wrappin’ it up:
What are were your high points this week?
What were your low points this week?
Personal meditation:
How did you do with your quiet times this week, and what did you learn from them?
* Journals need to be handed in to your One-on-Ones on Monday, and you will get them back by Thursday.
