Aloha. My name is Andrew York… I’m originally from Colorado – but have recently started claiming Kona as home, I figured it was about time since I’ve been here for almost 10 years. Yes, DTS…completely changed the course of my life. Since that amazing school back in 2000, the LORD’s given me a heart to help mobilize young people into missions. I’ve had the privilege of being a part of some amazing bringing-the-kingdom-on-earth trips around the world, and the honor of seeing students grab hold of their God-given destinies. Around 7 years ago, during a trip to Korea, I began to feel God’s heartbeat for the nation of Korea – specifically the North. I long to see revival take place, and reconciliation occur in that country. Revival truly is on the horizon, and believe in my lifetime, I’ll see the walls of that place come down.
I like reading. I like coffee. I like traveling. I like discussing kingdom matters. I like killing cockroaches…and I’m madly in love with Christ and want to see the hardest darkest places of this world reached through burning and shining kingdom communities.
Erica Gustafson
Hometown: Blaine, Minnesota
I am honored beyond words to be a part of tri-leading Awaken this summer with Kat and Matt. Amazing followers of Christ and wonderful friends. After being out of YWAM 7 years God led me back to Kona in 2010. I came thinking I would “get staffing out of my system,” since I had been toying with the idea for so long, and move on. God quickly showed me you cannot get rid of who you are, and you cannot easily avoid who he has created you to be. Praise God he has awakened me to my true identity in him! These last two years have molded me in ways far greater than I could ever have imagined. He has taken me to places completely off my radar, allowed me to see and feel his heart as it beats within me, and radically shifted and softened my heart for him, for the nations and for people in general.
My life has been ruined by his love in a glorious way. I long to see people pulled out of the darkness and walking into the light, discovering who they are in Christ then living and loving from that place. You were created for so much more than you will ever know. Are you ready for a new journey of discovery with God? Here we go….
Christer Bergus

My name is Christer Bergus and I’m from Gig Harbor, Washington. I’m 20 years old and I have been with YWAM for a year now. I’m falling in love with the Lord more each day and I have a huge passion for seeing myself and others become more intimate with God. I want to see a generation rise up that all know that the Lord wants a personal relationship with them and for them to pursue it with a fiery passion. The Lord has placed a great expectancy on me for the summer DTS.

Elizabeth York
Hometown: Aurora, Colorado
Hello! My name is Elizabeth York (aka. Eli (E-lie)). I am from Colorado. I am 20 years old, I did my DTS in Amsterdam in 2010 and have been on staff in Kona since June 2010. I love to enjoy Jesus through singing loudly (by myself), drawing or sketching, journaling, eating good food and enjoying time with friends and family. My life has been a course on friendship with the Lord, especially over the direction of past year. I have a love for discipleship and seeing people walk in complete freedom. I want to see that discipleship in the nations, specifically the Netherlands. I desire to see my generation marked with outstanding character, rooted in the Word, and led by the Holy Spirit. I love coffee. I hate being tired. I am incredibly silly. Brace yourselves…
Calvin & Camille Hanson
Hometown: Vancouver, WA and Chassell, Michigan
We did a Community Transformations DTS here in Kona in Fall ’09 and we staffed Awaken DTS last year. We both are from families of 5. Around here we are called “Hansons” (ask Andrew York for proper way to say it). We love meeting with new friends and partnering with God to bless them however he says to. We have an Asian adopted son named Sek who is in Taiwan doing a school (ok so it’s not legal but who’s checking, he is an Awaken Alumni). We don’t have children yet, but don’t be surprised if we ask you if you want to be adopted by us 
. God has been recently working on us in the area of faith and he has been teaching us about the value and true intent of community. We are more hungry than ever for the Holy Spirit to move in power. We love this Awaken Family and are so excited you can come and join us!

Matt Scaparotti
Hometown: Euclid, Ohio
I love Jesus and what He has done in my life in the past 3 years with YWAM through DTS schools. God has called and blessed me through living to serve and I want to look more like Him. I have really found how to be a son and receive the Father’s love, which has changed every perspective in my life. I love to play sports and play the guitar and bass, I am also starting to write music. The Lord is drawing me in and showing me who I am in Him and how to constantly walk in grace; I am learning how to embrace how I uniquely love him in a way no one else can. I have a huge heart for southeast Asia and I have such a strong desire to see men raised up as leaders, walk out in boldness, and bring revival to the nations.
Kat Hobin
Hometown: Evergreen, Colorado
I am so glad to be part of the Awaken DTS this summer; I am also excited to lead with both Matt and Erica. I love what DTS does to people, it’s like 7 years worth of grown in one week. The presence of God and His fullness inside of me and worshipping in His presence makes me feel alive. I am on a journey of learning: learning to get on my face in prayer, digging into the Word, writing songs, and going on more and more adventures. I can feel His smile every morning when I wake up which pushes me forward, and I long for the Middle East to sing a new song.
Haley Austin

My passion is Jesus and my desire is to see an awakening in every individual to the reality of His love. Global missions is a life-long deal for me. The homeless and addicts have a special place in my heart. Journalism, painting, and camping excite me. Also – I really, really like coffee. Bring it on, Awaken!!
Eunice Yuk
Hometown: San Diego, California
Heeeeeey everyone! My name is Eunice Yuk (pronounced Yook.. and yes, as you can imagine, my name has been mispronounced so many times before). I am 22 years old and I grew up in Walnut, CA but I recently graduated from UC San Diego and consider San Diego my home away from home! I did my DTS in the summer of 2010 and basically got wrecked for the nations and for what the Lord is doing through YWAM. I never imagined I would be doing this even one year ago but walking so closely with Jesus has taken me on adventures that I could’ve never dreamed of, and I know there is so much more in store! I want to know and love Jesus so deeply and have a passion to bring a greater understanding of who He is to other people through teaching and discipleship! I am sooo excited and privileged to be running after JESUS with my Awaken family and to be serving all of you this summer!
Other facts: I’m a PK, I love KOREAN FOOD, music, coffee, nature and photography, I know that India will play some sort of a role in my calling, I want to see revival take place in America and all over the 10/40 window and… I have a separate stomach just for ice cream (I will hardly ever refuse it).. : )

Hi Everyone! First things first- I really love Jesus! He’s so good! My victory is won! I have been redeemed, and now I worship the Redeemer! I am 21 and grew up in California most of my life. I enjoy coffee, art, puppies, pandas, talking carl, and people-watching. Also, I think Muppets are cute. I did my DTS in 2010, and went to Oman for outreach. Yeah, Jesus! “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor…to bestow a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” Isaiah 61 describes the cry of my heart. I want to see chains broken, people set free in Christ, and revival overtake the world.

Kristi Zboncak
Hometown: Wheaton, Illinois
My name is Kristi, I am 21 years old, and I hail from Wheaton, Illinois. No, I did not go to school there, I just live there : ) I am the oldest of 3 kids. Parallel parking is my secret talent. Hotdogs gross me out. Most of my reading gets done while I blow dry my hair. During DTS, Jesus completely altered the course of my life through His unrelenting love. My heart is for broken women and teens and I long to see the Lord bring restoration to their lives and hearts. This summer is going to be amazing, can’t wait to meet you all!

Chris Little

Chris Little is a All-American that grew up in South Carolina. Go Gamecocks!!!! He loves his Mom’s home cookin’, chicken fried steak, homemade mac & cheese, rice and gravy with green beans and an ice cold sweet tea!!! Jesus is the absolute center of his life with fishing and golf on the side. He loves his family and friends, and considers them very important in his life. He has a HUGE heart for the lost and to walk along people who are hungry and passionate about the Lord.
Julie McManus

Hi, my name is Julie. I grew up with YWAM in Santiago, Chile. I did my DTS the summer of 2009. The Lord radically changed the course of my life during my school. Knowing God as He can be known has become the one thing that I want and the pursuit of my life. He has my whole heart and my life to do what He wants. I love to celebrate and champion people on to see who they were created to be, and to take hold of their destinies. I love God centered community. I want to see a generation rise up who is led by the Spirit and fascinated with the indescribable beauty and the utmost worthiness of Christ. It’s the greatest love story ever told and we get to live it! His love is REAL it will change you, I’m not who I was! Matt Rogers
Hometown: Houston, Texas
Matt is a proud Texan with a deep love for motorcycles, life and people in general. A superhero in training, he has helmet-lessly crashed his motorcycle into a bronco at 40mph, and recently “exploded” (on the U of N Konaʼs big screen), living to tell the tale of both. If given a choice, his first real super power would be flight so he could soar on over to Texas for some seriously good Tex Mex food. Matt canʼt wait to watch as God changes the lives of so many people, and is excited about the ways they will each get to experience intimate love with Jesus.
Chase Cofer
Hometown: Bradenton, Florida
Hey there, my name is Joshua Chase Cup Cofer from Bradenton, Florida (the land of milk and honey to some). Usually, people call me Chase. I did my DTS in 2007 in Maui, and joined staff in Kona last year. A few things I enjoy include: sweet tea, playing sports, music making, BBQ, laughing, medium rare steak, the gators (go gators! I went to UF) and flying. Some things I love are Jesus (the Father and Holy Spirit too), other folks, and Jesus.
The love of God stirs my heart.. The nations stir my heart. The coming Awaken DTS stirs my heart. Freshly baked homemade chocolate chip cookies stir my heart! I am really stirred up right now! God is awesome. I think His Presence and love are going to change us all this summer and fall. Can’t wait…
